About Us
At the Food School we couple locally sourced, natural and organically produced ingredients prepared with creativity by the students of the CWDHS Hospitality and Tourism Program. We strive to minimize our impact on the environment and go to great lengths to minimize the waste we produce and to make sustainable choices. At times these choices cost more in the short term, but in the long run, we believe our approach benefits us all.

In-House CWDHS Caterings
The Food School is generally available to cater your meetings and events held within CWDHS. Our ability to accept your catering request depends on multiple factors throughout the school year, including exams, vacation, course workloads, etc. Student success always comes first!

Community Events
The Food School is generally available to cater public benefit events that directly support the community of Centre Wellington. We also cater food and farming events that support local and sustainable agriculture. Our ability to accept your catering request depends on multiple factors throughout the school year, including exams, vacation, course workloads, etc. Student success always comes first!

Private/Corporate Functions
Regrettably, the Food School is not available to cater private/corporate functions. Please see our policy on Community Events to determine whether we can accept your catering request.

Pick-up and Delivery
Unless other arrangements have been made, your catering order will be available for pick up at the Food School kitchen, Room 1064. Please indicate delivery requirements when placing an order.

Staffing/Volunteers
The students and teachers/staff who prepare and deliver your catering are volunteers who generously give their time, often after regular school hours. We welcome the opportunity to work with your staff/volunteers on-site during events for set-up and clean-up.

We provide limited service catering. This means we provide your food, serving dishes and utensils (when required), but the rest is generally up to you. We are often able to provide dishes and cutlery for your catering, but please be sure to discuss this when placing an order. We can work with you to source rentals of other gear you may require
for your event (e.g., table linens, tables, chairs, etc.), but these things are generally outside of the scope of our catering service.

With adequate notice, our volunteer staff and students are usually available to serve at your Food School catered event or function.

Menus
We provide custom menus for each catering, allowing us to consider the availability of fresh, local ingredients that form the foundations of our culinary program.
Please contact us for more details on the wide variety of menus we have provided.

Food School Catering Invoices
Invoicing will be done through email. A pdf will be emailed within a week of an event.

Testimonials

Deb – Centre Wellington Tourism
Awesome job on the gala! The projects you are ‘cooking up’ @ CDUB are absolutely amazing. Your great wit, the skills you share, and most importantly your willingness to ‘slave’ with these young minds is nothing less than spectacular! Thank you for assiting with making our [Scottish Festival] volunteer reception a success!

Alyson – Elora Pre School
On behalf of all of us here at the Elora Co-op Pre-School, I would like to thank you for your time and effort in your generous donation of all the bread for our spaghetti dinner. They were really delicious and sincerely appreciated! Our fundraiser was a great success and thanks to people like you offering their support, we can continue to provide a great educational environment with programming for our kids. Thanks again for your support!

Celeste – C.W. Teacher
My visitors and my family absolutely LOVED the items you prepared for Cafe La Ruche last Tuesday. Your food turned our meal in to a PARTY! Your fame has now spread to Cape Town South Africa – a great place to get a job in the food world. Well done all of you!

Caitlin – Local Farmer
Thank you so much for the wonderful workshop you put on for my shareholders. They can’t stop talking about it and are already asking for a series next year! I really appreciate all your support of local food & farmers. Thanks again!

Kate – Taste Real Fundraiser
Thanks so much for your contribution of time, energy, know how and great food that you offered to the first ever Taste Real Fundraiser. The event raised over $22,000 for Guelph Wellington Local Food to continue the work of making local food connections. All the best with all your endeavors.

Jean – NeighbourWoods
I would like to thank you and your students for the fabulous job you did for our Sweet 16 celebration. All the attendees loved the food and sang your praises! Congratulations on all the great work you are doing at the high school. Thanks again.

Susan – Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program
Thank you so much for the fantastic food you prepared for the OYAP in-service that I held in October. While I am always confident that the program is worth attending for our teachers, they have come to expect a great meal and they weren’t disappointed this year! The home made granola was a real breakfast treat, and everyone raved about the cheesecake! I realize that it is an added stress to take on catering orders during the busy school day and really appreciate your efforts. I am so proud to be able to support your Hospitality program as well, please thank your students on my behalf.

Don – Fergus Elora Rotary
On behalf of the Fergus Elora Rotary Club, I would like to thank you and the students from CWDHS who so capably served the meals at our charity ball. I heard nothing but positive, complementary comments pertaining to your students. It was very impressive to see the team work in an efficient manner by which everyone on your team carried out their duties. Your assistance contributed greatly to the success of the evening!
